Crash of Lanhsa 018
March 17 saw the deadliest air disaster in Roatan’s history. LANHSA Flight 018 from Roatan to La Ceiba crashed with 17 people on board. The accident took place around one kilometer from shore, directly south of the airport.

Island’s Hospital Crisis
Roatan has found itself in a health crisis. On April 19, around 9pm, Roatan Public Hospital in Coxen Hole burned down in a spectacular fire. The fire destroyed 95% of the 33 year old building except for a portion of the office annex.
